Files Installed: Once you run the installation program, you'll notice that the program consists of only two files:
DailyJournal.exe -- The main DailyJournal (.NET 2.0 application) executable. (887KB)
ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll -- Open Source Library which supports zipping of DailyJournal entries (your data) when backing up files. (188KB)
Note: There will also be two other files (unins000.dat & unins000.exe) located in your installation directory, but they are provided for easy uninstallation of the program.

Install Over Old Software Versions
You CAN install over the top of your old version, without fear of loss of any DailyJournal entries or data.

You can also download the DailyJournal Ver. 1.8.0.5 as a zip file, which includes the two files that you can unzip and copy anywhere to run.

Download Instructions
After you click on the link, you may see a message warning you that you are downloading a file. Web browsers do this differently, so make sure your web browser isn't blocking the download.
After that, you should see a message similar to the following:
Open - The Easiest Option
Clicking the Open button is the easiest option, because the computer will automatically download the zip file and open it for you.
Once the computer does that, you'll be able to start the DailyJournal installation by double-clicking on the DJ1805Setup.exe file.

If you click the Open button, you may (Windows Vista / Windows 7) see a message similar to the following:
Now, you need to click the Allow button to continue unzipping the file and install it on your computer.

After clicking the Allow button you should see a Windows File Explorer window (see next image), which displays the files which were inside the zip. These are the DailyJournal installation files.
Start the Program Installation
Double-Click on the DJ1805Setup.exe file and the installation will begin.
Follow On-Screen Installation Instructions
After that all you need to do is follow the on-screen instructions for installing the program. When the installation is complete, you will see a shortcut to the DailyJournal on your Windows desktop. The installation will also add a new program group under your Start menu and place a shortcut to the program in that program group.

Clicking the Save Button
You can also choose the Save button to save the zip file (DailyJournal.zip) on your local drive. You'll be prompted to choose a place where you want to save it. Remember where you saved it so you can double-click on the file to open it, so you can run the program installation.
